چکیده

A new method, Compressive Re-Sampling (CRS), is introduced to reduce the effect of speckle noise, a granular noise inherent in all coherent imaging technologies. The new method is motivated by the successful applications of compressive sensing (CS) to image processing and wireless communications. While compressive sampling is focused on acquiring signals at reduced data rates or reduced acquisition time, the goal here is to provide a speckle noise reduction method while preserving the original resolution and enhancing the contrast for diagnostic medical imaging applications. Initial results show an average SNR improvement of 12 dB. Keywords-compressive sensing; speckle noise; ultrasound; resampling; compressive re-sampling

Temperature Mapping Using Ultrasound Digital Images

Introduction:  The  success  of  hyperthermia  depends  on  the  accuracy  of  the  temperature  monitoring in the tumor and the surrounding normal tissue. In this study, the temperature changes  were determined by computing the speckle displacement in the ultrasound digital images. Speckle  tracking algorithm was used to compute the displacement.  Materials and Methods: The experiment was perf...

Ultrasound compressive deconvolution with ℓP-Norm prior

It has been recently shown that compressive sampling is an interesting perspective for fast ultrasound imaging. This paper addresses the problem of compressive deconvolution for ultrasound imaging systems using an assumption of generalized Gaussian distributed tissue reflectivity function. The benefit of compressive deconvolution is the joint volume reduction of the acquired data and the image ...

Speckle Noise Reduction in Ultrasound Images- A Review

Ultrasound imaging is a widely used and safe medical diagnostic technique, due to its non-invasive nature, low cost and capability of forming real time imaging. Ultrasound imaging uses high-frequency sound to image internal structures by differing reflection signals produced when a beam of sound is projected into the body and bounces back at interfaces between the structures. However the useful...

1 Texture Based Quality Analysis of Simulated 2 Synthetic Ultrasound Images Using Local Binary 3 Patterns 4

Speckle noise reduction is an important area of research in the field of ultrasound image 10 processing. Several algorithms for speckle noise characterization and analysis have been recently 11 proposed in the area. Synthetic ultrasound images can play a key role in noise evaluation methods 12 as they can be used to generate a variety of speckle noise models under different interpolation and 13...

Nonlinear Diffusion based on Bayesian Estimator in Laplacian Pyramid Domain for Ultrasonic Speckle Reduction

Laplacian pyramid based nonlinear diffusion (LPND) method is proposed for speckle noise reduction in medical ultrasound imaging. In this method, speckle is removed by nonlinear diffusion filtering of bandpass ultrasound images in Laplacian pyramid domain. For nonlinear diffusion in each pyramid layer, a Bayesian threshold is automatically determined by a variation of robust median estimator. Th...
